Hi everyone,
This Canyon's 12 week update! Canyon has made his 3rd trip to the beach and is enjoying being a beach baby. I was hoping to get him out surfing but I didn't have a board small enough for him. Everything is going well so far. He's starting to learn how to laugh and giggle and make funny little noises. He's sleeping about 3-5 hours a night and is extremely happy and playful in the morning. Carrie goes back to work Monday so we will all have to get readjusted to another new schedule. We hope you enjoy the new pictures because we sure had fun taking them. We estimate Canyon weights to be about 11-12lbs and he has his next routine checkup in August.

Hi everyone,
Canyon is now 5 weeks old and getting bigger every day. Last Friday, he weighed 7lb. 6 oz. at his one month visit. We couldn't believe it. The little extra weight makes a world of difference. He is just so cute!
On monday, we celebrated Canyon's should have been birthday. In celebration we have created a flickr account to make sharing pictures easier. Enjoy the new photos at Canyon's Flickr photo gallery.

Well, where do we begin. Parenthood certainly takes a lot out of you the first few weeks. Today, Canyon is 16 days old. He has already gained a pound since leaving the hospital and his jaundice is completely gone. We are slowly, but surely getting him on a sleeping pattern and appreciate all the nap time we can get for ourselves. Canyon had his first sink bath today and he looked to take right to the water (wonder why). Enjoy the pictures below.

On April 23rd at approximatly 9pm, Canyon Jacob Unkel was delivered at Anne Arundel Medical Center via emergency c-section. Canyon was delivered 5 weeks early due to complications with the umbilical cord. After delivery, we discovered the cord was wrapped dangerously around his neck 3x's. 20 Seconds after delivery, he was kicking and screaming and happy to see the outside world!
Canyon weighted 4lbs 14ounces at birth, was 18 1/4 inches long, and despite being a tad small, was perfectly healthy. Mom, Dad, and new baby Canyon are doing great (sleep not included in current assessment). We are expecting to be released from the hospital on Thursday 4/26/07. Thank you to everyone who has called, sent emails, and come to visit.

Sorry, it's been awhile since Cory and I have update Canyon's page. We have been extremely busy finishing his room and getting other things around the house completed before Canyon's arrival.
I have been going to the doctor every two weeks and so far everything is going great. Though I am getting to the point where I am ready for Canyon to come. It is really starting to get hard to get a good night sleep. Though I know it is only preparing me for what's to come.
Below we have included the pictures of the finished babies room. We hope you enjoy.

After three tries and still no luck receiving good photos of Canyon's heart from the Radiologist, my doctor finally sent me to a specialist.
Well, I am happy to report everything is A Okay! Both the specialist and the nurse remarked on how well Canyon is doing and told me he looks great. Canyon is now 2lb 5oz. Wow! I can't believe how big he is getting.
But, I have to say the best part of going to the specialist today were the pictures I got. The specialist had the top of the art equipment so, I didn't just get the noraml blurred sonogram images. I got 4D photographs. They are awesome! Couldn't believe my eyes. The 4D sonogram images are clear as day photos of Canyon. He is just so cute! See for yourself! I have included the photos below.

No new news about Canyon, but we do have pictures of me at 24 weeks and of our progress of Canyon's room.
Our theme for Canyon's room is "Under the Sea." We were able to use coloring books from "Finding Nemo" and a projector to trace the fish on the walls. And, thanks to my sister Steph, the fish are coming alive. Stay tuned for more pictures of the finished room and of me as I get bigger.

Friday I found out that my 20 week sonogram results came back. The sonogram results were normal. However, there were not sufficient pictures of the heart. Even though the results came back normal the doctor still wanted to see all four chamers of the heart. So, today I went for another sonogram. Below are the pictures I recieved from today's sonogram. Canyon is now 1lb. 4oz. He gained about 7oz. in two weeks and getting stronger everyday. I can tell just by how powerful his kicks are getting.

Yesterday Cory and I went for our 20 week Sonogram and found out we are having a boy. Wow! were we surprised. We really thought we were having a girl because our friends Bach and Jackie just had a boy Austin Bach Du and our friends George and Angela are having a boy in March. It's turning out to be the year of the boy. Also during our sonogram, we found out that Canyon is approximately 13oz. and 10.5 inches long head to toe and that everything looked fine so far. I also was give a new due date of May 27, 2007.
We have included our sonogram pictures for everyone to enjoy.

Today we had our first OB appointment. Cory and I were both so excited and didn't have any idea what to expect. Well, it was awesome! We got to see the baby for the first time. Right now the baby is only about the size of a peanut so, we have adopted the nickname peanut for the baby until we find out whether the baby is a boy or girl.
The most exciting part of the visit was getting to see the baby move during the sonogram. We got to see the babies very little feet and hands clap together. We couldn't believe our eyes. We are so excited. Below is our first sonogram.
